Some of my comments should not be taken seriously. Unless you really feel they should be.

Yeah I know, why sould they have AK numbers on their boats, well because the rest of us do, but more importantly, they need to meet safety requirement for those that clearly are employees, the one gal has no idea of boat safety as is the same for many of the guys! Can go on and on, but would ruin the drama! LOL

The air supply is sucking carbon monoxide down to the divers and other oddities as well!
And if one more person talks about diving without a divers license....

I know that pumping air down to you, you don't need one for recreational diving. Not so sure about commercial diving. I also agree that some of those "dredges" don't look like they are safe to be on a trailer, much less in the water.

Well speaking of Point Hope; and gold; all it takes is one phone call to point hope to find out the TRUTH.

In the 1940's there was a pastor in Point Hope who heard the stories and did something about it. He found lots of gold near cape lisburne; He used all the money to build 3 brand new big structures in Point Hope. A new two story pastors house for Donald & Lilly Oktollik and a new church, and one other large building. It is all a matter of fact! (CHUCKLE).
It is also a very well known fact: all beaches in the arctic have fossil ivory & mastodon buried under and among the rocks. Good luck in trying to find it. Many people actually make a handsome living just by finding this stuff.

I have a Friend That in the 1960's, he told me after a big storm would fly the beaches looking for fossilized ivory uncovered by the wave action. He found mammoth and Walrus tusks. There is a lot of people that go to an area on the Yukon called the "Boneyard" and as the river cuts into the bank, there is tusks there as well, but it is suppose to be illegal to harvest it that way unless you find it on your private property or mining claim.

One good mammoth tusk can bring twenty grand or more. Not a clue to what a walrus tusk would bring, but I know it's substantial. P

Gold mining in ivory can be both illegal and profitable. There is guys still flying the beaches looking for dead walrus that wash up on the beaches as well, land and cut the heads off for the ivory, which is suppose to be illegal as well, but there is a lot of money there too!

The gal on that one death trap got her arm sucked into the dredge hose, there is suppose to be a flap you can roll back to relieve that suction to get your arm out, a bigger pump could leave you trapped there! That is where OSHA would come in and fine the living dayslights out of that guy and the rest of them for having no safety program for the "Employees".

Funny on "Gold Rush", Todd and crew went to Canada to mine after their first year and Fred got their claim, after the show aired, now they have all sorts of inspectors showing up, but Todd and his crew are out of Country!

Kinda funny when you think about it!

Beach washed ivory is fair game to anyone that finds them. Just bring the tusks to fish & game to be tagged and they are legal!

Yep - Saw that and Todd must be saying, Phew! Thank god we left.

And yes, anything underwater that has suction needs to have an anti-trap mechanism in place. EVEN my pool has it for the main drain....

Yeah, I bet Todd and his crew are jumping for joy at "Dakota's" troubles!

Fred kept saying how he was going to show Todd how much gold he is going to get, well they did dig the hole for him to show where it is at... Then he wasted a month replacing a working wash plant and tens of thousands of dollars when he could have been digging.

But Canada seems to be a lot more miner friendly that the US is...

Wonder how much gold "doesn't" make it into the offical "Jar" for weighing.... I'm just saying.....

Seems everyone processes the gold away from the cameras

Just remember, Todd, Fred and the Kid are all gettin' paid good money to be on the show! I bet it's more then worth their while. If ole' Todd was really workin' hard you'd think that beer gut would start to fade away. Instead he's just keeps gettin' fatter.

He is upper tier management! Has an image to maintain!

Other than moving a loader stick while seated, I dont't recall him doing anything phycically demanding... But I wasn't there either, I'm sure it's just creative editing.... or not!
