Yes, it's excellent. I like cod better than salmon. Or halibut...for that matter. Has better taste, IMO. And what's more, it costs less....

This summer, maybe if Warptman gets back to Bethel in time... go visit him for a day. Grab him by the whatever, and force him to haul you down the river to Napakiak. Then make him catch a King Salmon and cook it for you.

In other news, Black Cod is very good, indeed. A light fish flavor, tender, very oily, best eaten smoked ... what isn't?
Mine preference is to marinate in Teriyaki sauce and put it in the Little Chief smoker for 12-24 hours, depending on ambient temperature and whether or not I forget it.
Now, of all fishes, mine favorite are the rock fishes - especially Yelloweye. Right after that, Sockeye, Halibut, smoked BC, preference being what's thawed out and ready to cook.
As for Pacific Cod, I once saw them fighting each other in Lazy Bay, Alitak, for human ... fecal objects. Since I feel you are what you eat, and I have seen what P-Cod like to eat, they are all yours. Emotional? Irrational? So?
Anyway, Black Cod is truly a delicious fish; as to what's best, of course that is personal preference.
As for saying ANYTHING is better than chocolate: I have a small collection of replicas of Medieval weapons, mine favorite of which is a Polish Mace. Do drop by.
Don't forget: ask Freddie the cabby to take you to Krazy Kenny's. (heh heh heh)
