At the end of the day it is up to uscis.gov you issue a visa. Your current credential do not apply to the US. If you consider it bureaucracy or not is not up for discussion.

Relocation as was mentioned is moving you and your belongings. Employers working with hard to fill positions often assist.

To what point local facilities can and will assist with internships/ residencies based on your stage of US education depends on them.

Please keep us posted on your research.

Australia and Canada use point based immigration. This may work for you.

Best of luck. A friend went through 7-8 years as experience niche specialty pediatrician but was in the US on a family based Greencard/citizenship during the process.

There's a Family Medicine physician in Fairbanks who used to be an oncology and general surgeon in Brazil. I don't know her personally so I don't know what her experience has been or how happy she is here, but I know she's been here for a while. She worked for the Center for Alaska Native Health Research for several years then earned her residency in the states in 2016.

That said, I agree with the person above who said that you should visit first, and not in July when it's gorgeous 24x7. Come in January or February and get a taste of what it's really like.

We need good doctors here, but we need providers that want to invest in our community and make this their home, not just use this as a vacation hub for two years then fly away again.

Default Seasonal work

Why don't you test the waters by doing seasonal work? You can work at a resort for a few months, you'll have very low (but very basic) housing accomodations and you'll get a chance to speak to the locals. Go to www.coolworks.com to see what's available. Also check out Timothy J. Ward on YouTube. I learned about seasonal work by watching his videos. His older videos (before the pandemic) are mostly about his seasonal gigs in doing different locations.

You only live once. I say if it's a dream of yours then you should go for it. Nothing worse than having regrets later in life about what you wish you could have done and never did.

Don't count out the Canadian territories either. From what I understand, achieving licensing as a foreign-trained physician in Canada can be harder, but the glidepath to receiving a visa and being sponsored to practice in an underserved community might be more supported. Wake up in the Yukon or wake up in Interior Alaska, you would not know much difference other than the road signs are in kilometers, the people can be nicer, and the rural communities are better funded.

Outdated bullocks! According to the US Census Bureau and the independent Census Reporter that is based on that data, as of 2019, 51% of the Alaska population is female and 49% of adult women over age 15 are single!

Yes, that ship sailed and sunk years ago, but old legends die hard.

A number of years ago I read an article which stated that in Brazil there are many more women then men. Don't remember the particulars, but in Alaska it would be the opposite which would work in her favor. I am excited for her.
