Simple answer - global warming messes up the gulf stream, which is causing the warmer air to be pushed farther north and cool more than usual. Don't worry, these weather anomalies are only temporary... eventually even pushing the air farther north won't cool it down enough and Alaska will become temperate savannah steppes

If that's the case, I should have a colossal garden Now if only I could train them to deposit in the right spots!

Hmmm... maybe you need to plant something moose-tasty next to your preferred "deposit" areas that way they'll help fertilize while they're getting a little nibble

The corn needs to be staked up after last night's storm.

Awww your wee 'maters are adorable! Did you start them indoors? Do you leave them in the pots all season or transplant them in the ground once it warms up? How long do they normally take to ripen outdoors? Or do you stem them and hang them upside down to ripen?

My wife started them off under fluorescents in the house then transplanted them to pots. I guess if they get bigger they'll go in bigger pots. Once it warms up? Its been over 100 here this past week. Summer starts in December down here.

I don't know too much about them other than looking at them & eating them.

Ah yes, my tomatoes grew just fine when I lived in Elizabeth City/Outerbanks, and in Columbia SC. Nice hot summers for heat-loving plants... sucked for me, but the veggies loved it.

I can't get my tomatoes to grow well in Seattle... mostly because my lovely neighbors planted a bunch of trees that shade my southern exposure. Poor babies have to make their meager attempts with the sun on my NW corner and won't ripen before fall unless I start them indoors under lights in Feb

When I get to AK, I'm betting that my tomatoes are going to be in the greenhouse or a hotbed for a long while.

Default Poorly!!

Everything is sunburned AND frostbitten.

Annuals are all dead, veggies dead, poppies are okay but short lived. Bushes and grass are okay but 2-3 weeks behind. Boo!

A friggin moose ate my lilly's! But my ferns and flowers are coming back. They are small and cold but hopefully we'll get a week of rain followed by 70 or 80 above and sunny! My braeburn apple trees even came back! I thought for sure they were dead but all 3 have leaves!
I planted red, purple, and white potatoes yesterday. I don't plan on seeing anything for a couple weeks.
