So what is everyone doing this weekend? I really haven't a clue though I know I am not going into town for any reason.

I'm taking my absolutely gorgeous and intelligent one year old granddaughter to HYDABURG to pick berries. Then I'm going hunting.

Wrennie, have a great time...I know that there are some good berry patches over that way. You can take them to Klawock and have them flash frozen, you know.

My so called plans are pretty lame. I'm going to the local diner for breakfast tomorrow morning with my father and a bunch of other old men. Then I am going to make some bread and probably read for awhile. Maybe wash my truck.

What guys, Barkely? If you're referring to the lower 48 wusses, well....all I can say is that last night I stopped in at the lake for a little something to eat before driving home and there was a wuss giving the employees the business because--get this--there was a log in the lake. He was saying that they needed to do something about the log, get it out of the lake somehow. The poor thing was quite strident about the issue. And that sort of behavior is not at all unusual around here.

I truly, truly, truly do f-ing despair.

I love making bread by the way, it reminds me of the last few months that the Prince of Wales spent at home. It was fall, and I'd make this incredible bread using almost scalded milk and fireweed honey. It took awhile; it was a double-rise process. The house smelled wonderful. We'd always have warm slices of it with red wine.

Since we spent the day fishing a creek and a river with nothing to show for it but a sunburn, I told the husband to get his 'man-cave' organized and cleaned out. Found some wild raspberries, I sure would love to return to those patches with a few buckets!
