Yup, you read right.

We are in the process of packing all of our belongings into one room of our house.
A friend will be staying here while we are away and doing repairs and maintenance for rent.
We may be away for a very long time if things go right; we may even be away forever.
Only time will tell for certain.

Things we do not need will be sold or given away to those we care about.
Odd glassware from my childhood has appeared, as have various tin containers filled with memories, unused cookware and strange kitchen appliances.
Things lost in current memory but resident nonetheless are appearing as flotsam on our the sea of belongings.
Memories abound!
More than we could ever have imagined.

Anyone need a barely-used Cannondale mountain bike, household generator (used here for hurricanes) or an old CRT television?
Believe me, most of the stuff we have won't travel well.
Can you say Craigslist?

When do you expect to arrive here in Bethel?

Good luck on packing/moving up!

We arrive between Nov 1 and Nov 4.
(We may layover in Anchorage to get the rest of the AK needed gear we need. Kinda hard to get Arctic gear here in New Orleans...)

Warpt, if you want the bike it's free. Cannondale F5, 07 edition. Made in USA. If you come to NOLA to pick it up.

Do you really have a Beast?
Rode one a long time ago.

So, I have to ask, if you don't get here and I don't sell the bike, what kind of grease do I pack the hubs with so's they don't completely freeze?
(No, not whale oil or seal fat... I know that's coming.)

Best,
-Merlin

I haven't repacked my bearings yet, but a friend does his with a winter season grease that won't freeze. I use the 'dale now and then when it gets muddy here, but it is semi-retired. I bought my friend's Giant Rainier last January, a tad big for me, but a great ride.

Most excellent, Warpt.
Those have some monstrously high bottom brackets.

If you will, can you find out the exact grease your friend uses?
The wrong one just will not do up there.

Thanks!

And, by the way, the offer still stands.
You make it down here before we move and the bike is yours.
Really.

Trying to tempt me, aren't you? Next time I see him I'll ask. He rides Pugsley's year round, with those 4" wide tires. I was so close last month buying a F7 with the discs, but I got my truck worked on instead. Then the dividends came out and I almost bought it again, but I got a Canon DSLR instead. Maybe next summer. I should send my brother down from Montana...

Warpt,

Hey, I was going to ask, this bike has discs too.
How well do they handle the cold?
