About my post that was deleted; I'd hardly noticed that and it is rather a shame that some people can't handle the truth. It contained no personal attacks whatsoever, by the way.
Ahh my dear, you forgot that Floyd posts here

Why is there not a sticky yet on this topic? So many people ask these questions over and over again. "Driving the Alcan" and "moving to Alaska" There is so much information in the links that people provide here that it should be at the top of the page.

I don't get it?

I've noticed many of the States have a thread: "Newcomers, before posting, please read here".

It has info to what they need to post in order to receive information. I pasted this from the VA. forum who borrowed it from the KY forum. This could even be tweaked to include the fact that it is important to have so much money set aside, etc., adjusting to our winters, etc. Just a thought.

Here it is:

(note that I borrowed this thread from the _____ forum, as we here are also getting bombarded with vague questions)

READ if you are asking about where to live in ___________

There's been many threads recently from people requesting information on which cities to live in in ___. If you are about to post one of these information request threads, please include the following:

-Where you are working
-How much you are willing to spend on housing
-How long of a commute you're willing to tolerate
-If you have kids: Private school or public school?
-What type of neighborhood environment you are looking for: small town feeling? small city excitement? suburbia delight?
-Community amenities important to you
-Pie or cake?

We on the ________ forum would appreciate it if you included the above information in your initial post so you can get the information you want as quickly as possible and we would not have to repost the same questions for every thread. Thank you.

We are limited to 2 stickies. I'd be happy to make this a sticky, but either the chat thread or photo thread will be removed. Feel free to vote on it.

I sure wouldn't want to see the photo thread go. Is it possible the chat thread could become just an ordinary thread but still continue?
