Default Almost JR82, almost

Hi JR82,

Almost, but not quite. The Bell 205 is basically a civilian Huey, a single engine model that tops out at about 9500 lbs. The one in the photo is a Bell 212, the twin engine version. It's max gross weight is a couple thousand pounds more than the 205, and it runs on a pair of P&W PT-6's instead of that big Lycoming that the 205 uses. Having two engines is a pretty good idea considering the terrain and how cold that water in the inlet is, and it simplifies things when you've working under Part 135 rules and theres a lot of water around. That particular one was working as the backup ship for Providence Hospital's Lifeguard program out of Anchorage. BTW, thats McKinley in the middle, the shot was taken at the basecamp on the Kahiltna glacier.

Default less muddy that way

Yeah, something about slogging through the ice-cold mud in a rubber getup versus having the waiter deliver them already cooked right to your table along with a beer....hard decision all right.

Less expensive the other way, and the beer might be a little tastier knowing that you saved a bundle. LOL

I've got morel picking out at Skilak Lake, but have to drive to Homer to dig steamers. I'm just catching the wrong low tides when I'm home. Need to fix that somehow.
