I've been thinking about it myself. I would love to go do that for awhile and save up a bunch of money so I could move to wherever I want and have the savings to fall back on while looking for employment. I wonder how much they pay for jobs like sand loader and winch truck driver.

It's funny, a lot of the jobs listed are in Ross, ND. If you look up Ross on Wikipedia, it says that the last measured population was 97! That's smaller than a lot of Arctic bush villages! I wonder where in the world they're putting all those workers; no way is there enough pre-existing housing.

Hi Rance, I realize you wrote this post in 2007, but I am interested in slope work and am looking for some info on it. You said you work 2 wks on, 2 wks off - where can I go to apply and check that out some more? Thank you for your time!

I wouldn't say most people commercially fish, but we do have a large fishing industry.

I am no longer on the slope, but still working a 2 and 2 schedule. If you have no actual oilfield experience...hitting up the major drilling will be pointless. To get in the door so to speak, you could try ASRC, Peak, Nana, Chulista, BP, ConocoPhillips, Repsol, Pioneer, Hilcorp, Nabors, Nordic Calista, Doyon just to name a few. I have no idea what your background or experience is.

Oil price is sadly very low and companies are actually letting people go in cutbacks right now. Pretty grim.
