The beer is expensive here, too. That's almost enough for me to say don't move up here!

Yea there is that too, but you can just not drink and other aspects of Alaska make it worth living here, of course you have to have a ton of $$$ to really enjoy the unique aspects of alaska (like a nice plane to enjoy the free air space or a snowmachine to get out and go riding out in the woods, even hunting you have to get your special permits, rifle, and a large rig and gas). If your income level restricts you to anchorage its really not worth it because even just to go out bowling or something is going to cost you twice as much as some of the cheaper places in the lower 48.

No way I like to whine, unless I could move somewhere where the wages were high the prices low and the crowds non existant and my debt disappeared I like to whine.

i don't take a rig and gas when i go hunting. i grab my rifle and start walking (with a backpack, that is). sometimes my wife walks with me (it helps in case there is lots to carry).
but then, not everybody is lucky enough to live in a place like this...

Yea that is what most people want, good wages, low prices and non-existant crowds. Well good luck with that one! Let us know when you find your Utopia. Until then be thankful for what you do have; stop seeing the glass as half-empty and see it as half-full and I am "not" talking about beer in a glass!
