Check with the medical clinic in Skagway; you'll probably be able to have your meds sent there.

As far as what to wear, Skagway is located in a rain shadow, which means it gets much less rain than the rest of SE Alaska. What it does get, though, is wind...every single day. The original name Skaguay, roughly translated from the Tlingit language, means "where the same air is never breathed twice"....though the tourist manuals will say it means "where the North wind always blows" or some such. Same thing, I suppose. Just be prepared for wind every day, usually picking up in the afternoon. It can still have quite a bite to it in May. But...the wind does keep the mosquitoes down.

Temperatures are mild, weather quite good except for the wind, which in mid summer is no big deal.

The tap water there comes from a glacier fed lake; it's incredible, so cold and clean.

On crossing the Canadian border, be aware that if you have a felony or DUI conviction, they won't let you across the border.

I enjoy the small town drama. At least you get a chance to almost know everyone. I like it. Otherwise your just another no name face in a no name town. I've had drama with people in town and by the weekend we were all at the beach or the bar being best friends again. It's life, live it and enjoy it....

"crazy ass", hey, you talkin' about me??

welcome,
Nan
Edit:
and for anyone traveling----I work at sea and never sure where I will be when my 'scrips run out (this old high milage body, I have several that are for life). My PCP gives me several copies for each med. I can't get them filled too soon, medicare and my insurance only pay for a month.
Found out the hard way, several years ago had somehow lost my inhaler, TSA?, anyway, was in deep dodo and then had to pay for one--YIKES! But thank goodness for the 'scrip I had with me and I could buy one.

and on the passport, I knew mine was about to expire, was going to do this--got a job in Asia, there is a way of speeding the process up, quite a big fee, but it gets FedEx to you.
Happy Trails All,
Nan
