Personally, my kids anbd I shop at the Army-Navy store on 4th Ave. in downtown Anchorage. Carhartts and Refrigi-wear. Wolverines, Rangers and Sorell's for boots.

Default Sierra Trading Post

We keep an eye out for sales on the Sierra Trading Post website, they've often got Carhartts and such on sale, though sometimes not in the size or colors you'd prefer. They also get a lot of 2nds, blems, and discontinued items so if you see something you'd really like don't wait, it might not be there next time.

Can't say enough positive about Smartwool products for the winter, especially their socks. WAY warmer than cotton, wear like iron, no itching (Merino wool blends) and best of all, machine washable.

Another place to check out is Campmor.com. They have good prices and don't gouge you on shipping.

For hiking and camping equipment I either buy from Cabela's or from Ute Mountaineer. The latter is more expensive than the former, but they also have better quality equipment.

Default Smartwools !!!!!!

I agree with Smartwool products. Their socks keep me toasty all year long. I wear them during the summer and have no problems. They allow my feet to breathe fine. I was not aware they made other stuff. I will investigate...

No you can't, Warpt...it's nearly sad that I am on a first name basis with Cabela's .
Backcountry.com - I've ordered shoes from them...they are good, shipping is fairly quick.

Default Backcountry

I live in Unalaska / Dutch Harbor, I started using Backcountry.com three years ago. Never had a problem with any of the products or service. I've spent over $3,000 on different gear for my treks around the world.

They have a lifetime return policy that is great. I ordered a pair of snowshoes that ended up breaking about 8 months after I got them. They took them back and gave me a credit, no questions asked.

I use them exclusively now for my gear and to outfit others here on the island.

Hope that helps

Dan
