It may be to late to matter but I made an account just for this post.. People on here sound clueless. I am 27 born and raised in saratoga county. If you want the outdoors check Galway, argyle, rock city falls, Salem, Corinth or maybe Mayfield. All areas full of trails and great hunting spots and tons of cheap land. Beautiful land. Mountains for skiing or boarding you'll find abundent. Outdoors and clean air Is everywhere. In the foothills of the Adirondacks it doesn't get better.
People directly in saratoga are stuffy overall. But that's a matter of opinion I guess. Allot of old money. The surrounding cities however are full of laid back people.
Great place for someone our age, tons and tons of People under 30 in toga and it's a clean well maintained town. Summer is a bit crazy with track season the tourist are annoying.. But they only stay for a few months.
Overall if you still have the opportunity definitely do it. This Is the place to be and your hobbies and lifestyle is that of all the people I know. Seen almost the entire state and saratoga is the gem city of NY in my oppinion.

Thanks for adding that. You're not too late for me. I'm hoping to move to Saratoga in late summer. I'll check out some of those towns you mentioned.
