Are there many buses or other transportation that will be easy for him to get around. He will have no vehicle to get around. Also, are there areas he should stay away from? Concerned about safety and any info will be appreciated. Fyi. Right now he will be staying at an airbnb

Albuquerque is a fairly large city. Where will your son be living? Where is his Air Bnb located? In general, there is good bus service within the city limits along Central Avenue and most other major arteries in the central part of the city between Coors and Isleta Boulevards on the west, Montgomery Boulevard on the north, Wyoming Boulevard on the east, and Gibson and Bridge Boulevards on the south. Beyond that, bus service is more limited and infrequent and there are several major streets in outlying areas, like Tramway, Paseo del Norte, and Alameda, that do not have bus service at all.

His airbnb is on the SE side of Albuquerque. I don't know much more about his plans this far I just wanted to know about the bus service and the area.

The link below is to ABQRide. It’s not the most user-friendly setup for researching bus routes, but if you spend some time with the maps to determine which routes cover his area, then look at the individual routes to ID the stops, you’ll get the hang of it.

Is the southeast area a safe area? Anyone? Are there many bus routes over that way?

The Southeast part of ABQ is quite large. There are safe and unsafe parts of it, it's too big to generalize. There are lots of bus routes through the area.

The locals don't care.
It's not that they're jerks, it's just that this is a very mind-your-own-business sort of place.

If you're nice to someone who has reason to be more than a stranger, they tend to be very nice back.

If you're used to being a busybody, sticking your nose in places, it's a bit of a culture shock. Otherwise, maybe not so much.

There are a lot of bus routes in the ABQ area. Look on this page, which leads to the maps: https://www.cabq.gov/transit/bus-rou...-facility-maps

The SE quadrant of Abuquerque covers roughly 20 square miles (9 miles by ~2 miles), and is rather long, but narrow, being hemmed in by the Air Force base/airport on the south. That is a lot of ground to generalize about.

A basic rule of thumb is that it gets shadier from San Mateo Blvd., eastwards, though.
