I was wondering, it was reported that AT&T is coming up with their list of divestitures. While I now live in Arizona, I still have a 505 phone number, and I am concerned that Albuquerque might be one of AT&T's divestitures if the T-Mobile merger is approved.

While AT&T did gain the Alltel subscribers after Verizon was forced to divest them, it still seems that T-Mobile still has a larger subscriber base in ABQ, second only to Verizon. I'm guessing the reason why Verizon is popular is due to coverage, and the reason why T-Mobile is popular is due to their lower prices. Where does this leave Albuquerque's AT&T subscribers?

I haven't heard anything about this. However, I know people who were with Alltel and were moved to Verizon (not AT&T as you state) when Verizon bought out Alltel a couple of years ago.

Well, in most areas the Alltel customers were moved to Verizon. New Mexico is one of the exceptions, as I remember seeing Alltel ads stating "Now Part of AT&T in Your Area".

The difference is Verizon aquired only part of Alltel, not in all areas. Where as AT&T is aquiering all of T-mobile throughout the US. I think T-mobile is going to offer an opt-out on their contracts.
