I hope she reports back. Her wish list for $1200 seemed unrealistic, maybe even for $1800! But I did not think it would be that competitive to rent a house in Albuquerque in the middle of the summer. I'm moving to a town in the PNW in the next two years and the current rents for a small house are $1700-2200 (up to $3K or more for a larger home) and the vacancy rate is 3% or less. I thought that was pricey but perhaps it is not that bad of a deal.

There is a 2BR/1Bath house listed on Craigslist for $1350 across from the Albuquerque Country Club that might be of interest to her. Per Craigslist, it has been listed for six days but was re-posted yesterday.

I'm on Vassar Dr, the stretch between San Rafael and San Joaquin is really sweet. I personally don't shop at Smith's. I drive to Trader Joe's and Sprouts, just because I like their product selection better. And I visit the Railyards Market and occasionally (when I want a frustrating parking experience!) the main Farmer's Market.

There is a home for sale on the corner a few houses from me now, I haven't looked at home prices to buy. But I do feel I got very lucky (after investing many months looking!) in finding my rental.
