But what is it like in 2010 and beyond? Is it mostly all old retired people? Are there any stores there or do you have to drive to Sedona or wherever to shop? Is it free from crime/drugs/gangs/etc. ? Are the people racist like (some people claim) Prescott is?

I have lived here for five years. Yes, I'm older, but not retired. I love it here because of all the trees and the quiet and the beauty. I live on the golf course (closed at this time awaiting new owners) and as a lot of people do I walk the course on the various paths and take my animals out for their walks (2 cats). Ages range from young couples to retired people. Very friendly area. Small home-spun plaza. You do your shopping in Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Sedona, and Flagstaff. The lake is really an extra large pond, but the geese like it, as do the deer, wild cats, javalenas, and sometimes a lost cow or two. I hate to leave but am considering moving to Colorado Springs for opportunities in my line of work. This area goes way back to the old John Wayne movie-making days. Lots of cultural history.

Default Fishing?

Lake Montezuma might have fish in it. I've seen two people fishing there, but I know people pull their boats out of the area and fish up north, off of Highway 17. Don't know where they venture off to though. Sorry.
