My wife has ear problems and cannot go above 3500 ft with out pain. We would love to find a campground with pine trees, trails and a place to pitch a tent. We are from Washington State, but I know Im not going to find a rain forest, but maybe something in AZ can accomodate our family. If you know of this place please post. Remember LOW elevations.

Thank you

steve

What time of the year are you planning to camp? To escape the heat heat during the summer you'll need to get a lot higher than 3500 ft.

Here's a link to a current temperature map.

You are not getting out of the heat anywhere in Arizona's lower elevations until Fall.

You are not going to find any pines at 3500 feet either. What you might consider is waiting until mid October-November and then camping in some of the riparian areas. A nice one is a campground on Clear Creek just past Camp Verde on SR 260. But there are many of them. You will be under huge old cottonwoods - not pine but pretty nice nonetheless.

Probably so, Foreverking.

Tucson's elevation is a little under 3k feet with some areas just a little over and although not quite as hot as the Phoenix area, still not what I would call camping weather.

You can go West and do some beach camping.

Why? Some sort of health issue?

Yep, I'd go over to San Diego if I were you, it's a nice way to cool off and your wife's ears should be fine. Only one small mountain pass on your way over, last about 20 min then smooth sailing. lol
