Another Arizona statistic not to be proud of:

AZ ranks 47th in the nation in the number of people able to meet their bills, pay their rent, buy food, and care for their kids. Poverty here is rampant due to the low salaries and people need 2 or 3 jobs just to get buy. Broadcast today on Channel 12 news.

Arizona has historically been one of the poorest states in the union, along with New Mexico.

Also, there aren't 47.5 million people in the state. That's larger than Canada.

Poverty is "rampant" everywhere because people live far beyond their means these days. Too many things are considered "necessities". When I was growing up on a tiny dairy farm in Central NY, we didn't even think about having cable TV or a cell phone. Now those considered "in poverty" would never dream of being without them................If you don't have enough money to pay your bills you need to look at your priorities.

From Wikipedia, the United States Census Bureau estimates that the population of Arizona was 6,553,255 on July 1, 2012.

Unfortunately, many of these "poor people" are poor by choice.

By claiming poverty they are not required to work and qualify for lots of "freebies" aka: welfare. Also, many, if not most, of the illegals work "under the table" in order to cash in on the "freebies" while collecting a non-reported wage.

Sad, isn't it?

Last time I checked you can't get an EBT card (the new food stamps) for more than 3 months if you have no job.

Sounds good to me! Enough of these leeches sucking resources off of the tax payers. What ever happened to being self-sufficient or being too proud to take from those of us who actually work for their money? I'd cut the entire program in a heartbeat if I could.
