Thanks! I've heard some good and bad about PHX; some told me to check out Tucson and Scottsdale, too. I'm trying to do my due diligence with this next move. I want to be as prepared as I can, but I'm starting to get so excited, my timetable is moving up.

Again, thanks for the info. Hopefully, more members will respond with more of their own opinions of their areas, too.

Happy Holidays.

I hope you make it over to look around AZ. We like the west side, but others love the east. It will have to be your choice for your reasons. Where you work or start your business will be where you want to locate. We moved from CA 3 years ago and have no regrets to date. I miss some things about CA, but not the cost of living.

As a person of mixed race I would carefully consider anything in the south and everywhere but Austin in Texas. Both Phoenix and LA are going to be a lot more accepting of you (you will be ignored ). I spent a year traveling back and forth to the southeast US on a job a couple years back. There is simply too much racial tension in NC, TX, and GA in my opinion. I'm not saying people there are bigoted, just that racial awareness, for lack of a better term, is part of the history, culture and, seemingly, the air you breathe in those states and it is not in Phoenix or LA

On the other hand, if I were a single guy and I wanted to live in one of those sultry southern beach places, I wouldn't let the possibility of a few stares and some insults stop me either. Down the road though, with kids, it's something to think about.
