At one time, out of Staters (People that bought property in Arizona, that did not live in the state) were frowned on because we drove the real estate prices up.

My question to those that may have had or still have that thought process what are you thoughts on that now?

Just a couple things to ponder before you answer are:

+ The out of Staters pay taxes to the county
+ The out of Staters cannot vote on local or state issues.
+ The out of Staters use very little if any of the local taxes collected for any services, ( ie.. police/sheriff, schools and the like)

I an just wondering if now if there are different views in the area?

Just so you know I bought property in AZ so that I can retire there, that is part of the retiring process one should go through before they actually retire. I don't mind as part of that process that I am paying for services that I am not presently using, my taxes are helping create a better life for those that presently live there now, which in the long run will make my retired life better as well.

"Out of staters" drove up real estate prices eh? Trust me, the "in staters" did it without any help from anyone outside the state. I for one, could care less if you are from out of state. You have as much a right to purchase land or a home as anyone else. So why the chip? You plead your case like you are guilty of something. A touch of snideness as well. Like you are somehow gleeful about the current state of affairs in the Arizona real estate market.

The transplant percentage in Arizona is probably in the 60% range. Most folks are from somewhere else. So people I know don't have a problem at all with transplants. A "sold" sign on any property is a good thing, no matter who the buyer is.

Come to Arizona, enjoy your retirement and don't worry what others think.

Dookie,

I apologize in advance but I am not very good with the "quote" thing, so with that said allow me to voice the following:

* In Staters driving up the pricing as well, that indeed is a fact, I wish others were as aware of that fact as you are.
* I am in agreement with you I have every right as anyone else to buy land anywhere.
* Do I have a chip, I am sorry that you perceived my comment that way, that was not my intent, but you do have to admit that at times there have been those, whether in the minority or majority that may not have your point of view. I purchased my land in Arizona because I love it and I wish I was able to be there right now.
* I, along with everyone else in the country am not happy with the current situation that the nation is in that should not be considered snideness. You do have to admit, that there are those that do not share your factual point of view. Outsiders that want what you have speaks multitudes of what you have.

I could of chosen multiple places to retire, Arizona was my primary and thank goodness I was able to get that in motion. I thank you for your warm welcome and I appreciate your insights.

I think you are making a mountain out of a mole here vis-a-vis out of staters. No one really cares that much. Maybe 20 years ago we hoped to hang on to something of the cowtown in the desert feel, but that was lost long ago. I haven;t heard a negative remark about out of staters (except those from Mexico and points south) in a long, long time. I suppose you can find more of that in Prescott and such places as they were invaded by out of state people more recently. As far as California, I personally prefer the CA immigrants to the midwest ones by a long shot. The CA ones are most "like us". The life style and look here is more like "home" to them. They dont cry and moan about the heat and the traffic and the stucco, or pine for the "old country" like the midwesterners do. Check out this forum, the vast majority of the haters and complainers came from the midwest.

OUCHIE. *.0 Here we go again..................

True, I think the vast majority of people in AZ come from the mid-west as well. So logic would prevail.

I came here from Texas. I came for employment reasons. Obviously don't mind out of staters, but I do mind the snowbirds, they drive me crazy.
