We are looking to turn into Snowbirds next Fall and think Arizona is where we would like to spend six months a year. Does anyone currently live in one of the "Sun City" type communities - if so please tell me about it.

I'm in my 30's and live close to Sun City. A lot of my parents friends have retired down here in some of the newer communities. I'm not sure if they are in Sun City, Peoria, or Surprise because they all kind of blend together . Anyways, my parents (the live in Pierre)stay with me a few times a year and are always over visiting their friends. Their communities are built around a golf course/club house. They have poker night, cocktail hour, quilting etc. Thats the kind of place I want to move someday.

Hi...
There are many towns in Arizona that will have senior communities.
It all depends on what type, where, and what you can afford.
You can google suncity properties to get some answers... If you
are looking to be part of the Phoenix Metro area.
Some senior developements are site-built homes, some are modular-
mobile homes where you rent the lot-space but still enjoy many
amenities such as pool/clubhouse. Some senior communities are
where you buy the lot and either live in your Rv over the winter OR
own the lot and buy what's called a park-model to live in over the
winter months, some will live year-round. If you rent the lot-space..
they will have a montly fee which covers the costs of the lot and for the
amenities such as pool/fitness/maintenance... and most will include
services such as trash/water/sewer, and some also include basic cable.
If you OWN the lot-space, mobile/modular park, Rv resort park.. you
will still have a monthly fee for such as all the amenities, maintenance,
and trash/water/sewer/sometimes cable will be included in the monthly fee.
We do not know much about the senior communities in the Phoenix metro
area.. but here are some links in other area's. They will give you and idea
of what types of senior living options are available.

You have more choices than just Sun City. We have been looking at the Dell Webb communities and would rather move over to the Trilogy/Vistancia in N. Peoria. It has a much younger feel to it as well as feeling more upscale than some of the others. I love the architecture of the homes there and the prices have been very tempting. They have a great restaurant/grill located on the golf course as well as a full gym/indoor pool/full spa. Our son is soon off to college out of state and I think we will make the leap.

I'm looking for an upscale adult community for a 60 yr old friend who is single with no children and is not a golfer. Shopping should be reasonably nearby as she is not a fan of highways.
