Hi Everyone,

I will be moving to Malvern in June and I just want to get some feedback on jobs in the area. I am moving from Northern Illinois, a city a little smaller than Little Rock. I know I'll have to commute to Hot Springs or Little Rock for most things. Also I will be enrolling into a community college. Which one do you think offers the most quality education; College of the Ouachitas in Malvern or National Park Community College in Hot Springs?

Thanks,
IL2AR

First, I'll admit my bias! About seven years ago we moved from Malvern, after living there for about 45 years, because of family circumstances. If possible, I'd be living there now.

Malvern has about 10,000 people, good hospital, good schools, many churches, and many nearby recreational (outdoor) opportunities. You really wouldn't have to go to Hot Springs or Little Rock for most purchases. I don't know what type of work you are looking for, but they have opened a new call center in Malvern and are hiring. I don't know how you feel about commuting, but we commuted to L.R. for about 35 of those 45 years. Of course gas was cheaper at that time and there weren't as many commuters. College - it really depends on what your goal is, but as far as quality, I doubt there is little difference between the two. I do know COO is working closely with local employers to provide needed training for future employees.

If you would like to send me a Direct Message with specific questions or thoughts, I will be happy to help any way I can. Or, if you prefer, we can continue on this public forum.
