I am in search of an old fashioned "Mayberry-type" town within commuting distance from Russellville (employer area) for my home. Something near mountains/forest and with a "old-time" feel. Like Jasper but closer to Russellville.

I have listed my initial choices in the survey and would really like your opinions.

And if I have left off your favorite town, let me know.

And the miles from Yellville to Russellville are twisting and turning mountain roads, would take about 2 hours 45 minutes each way.

I'm only familiar with Dover and Pelsor. Dover is a nice little town, very rural but has a Harps grocery, dollar store, and a few other stores to avoid going to Russellville for everything. Pelsor is VERY rural. There is literally nothing in Pelsor, which may be good for some, not for others. Nearest grocery is Harps in Dover, probably 30 minutes. Pelsor will have some mountains and isn't terribly far from Jasper and the Buffalo river to it's north, so there's lots of outdoor things to do like kayaking, hiking, fishing, etc.

I live 30 minutes from a small store, and hour to a town with things like walmart. You adjust and learn to stock up on things you use often. While I have no problem with it, others would.

I appreciate your comments and concerns, but anyone living in the burbs of a large metro-city can testify that sometimes going just a few miles can take 30 minutes plus. A few years back my daughter held her wedding rehearsal in Houston just a couple miles from hotel we were all staying in. What should have been a few minutes drive took 45 minutes and that was just normal traffic, no accidents.

So you are correct, it's all what you're willing to adjust to. Thanks
