I just received my health insurance renewal letter today, and the good folks at my Arkansan provider want me to pay an extra 66% in order to continue coverage. I have to presume that the increase has to do with this recent Health Care bill that was passed. I am healthy with no pre-existing conditions. Besides shopping around for a new provider and contacting my congressman and senator (which I have done), what else can I do? Anyone got a good recommendation for an alternative provider (Not Mercy HealthCare)?

Health insurance premiums have been skyrocketing since the late 1980's. A bill passed a few days ago had nothing to do with this. I don't know how much you pay in health insurance, but I'm now paying over $400/month for health insurance, and since my child is sickly, doing without health insurance is not an option for me. Thanks Blue Cross/Blue Shield........

I think many of the new healthcare provisions don't kick in for 6 mos so insurance companies will try to gouge rates as much as possible before then.

Default Another example of what insurers are doing

Look at what the insurers are doing here:

you people watch too much Fox (faux i.e. fake) news.

the health care bill will lower premiums if you or your children have pre-existing conditions, and will prevent the health insurance companies from installing lifetime limits or caps on your coverage, among other benefits. people, this bill will benefit the american public.

the health insurance companies have teamed up with the republicans to SCARE YOU into thinking this is socialism. it is not. educate yourselves. i'm not saying democrats are perfect, because they are not. but they don't receive any payouts from the health insurance companies which are scared to death of losing profit and margin with this bill. the republicans do get the payouts and that's why they are so against this bill!!!!

----"SCARE YOU into thinking this is socialism. it is not "--

The Federal Govt dictating that every human must purchase a product is a step in that direction.

The U.S. Department of Transportation pressured states to force their citizens to purchase auto insurance years ago. Noone was calling that "socialism". If that is your standard for a "socialist nation", then America has been a socialist country ever since its founding.
