I think you would enjoy Hot Springs and the Ouachita region.

Unless you're in Hot Springs, Little Rock, or Fayetteville, the night life/shopping in the state is pretty limited, but you have a bit of everything in those areas.

North Central Arkansas might be a nice area to fish/nature love. Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes are in that area (very large lakes with a lot of parks, lodges, cabins, resorts, etc) as are the White and Buffalo rivers, which makes it an amazing fishing and outdoors area. The state parks site mentioned earlier is also a great resource, it's hard to go wrong with pretty much any of them, it just all depends on what kind of area you're looking for. Anything near Hot Springs, Northwest Arkansas, or Little Rock will give you access to some shopping (primarily NWA and Little Rock), nightlife, nice downtown/historic areas, hotels, and just a short drive to nice parks/lakes/rivers.
