I only generally know the ones that are famous in the west like Jackie Chan, Gong Li.etc, but I know some others vaguely like Rain, groups like Girls Generation, Big Bang, AKsomething lol, and a few other stars like Donnie Yen, Fay Bing Bing.

Ignore the Filipinos because they are not well known Asians. I'm posting the well known one.
Cynthia Luster (real name: Yukari Oshima), I guess she's famous because she went to the Philippines before doing lots of action movies. I read she's half Chinese and Japanese. She's Farrah Cat in 'Bioman'
I'm Pakistani so I'm not sure East Asians would consider us "Asian" enough, but I would say Imran Khan Niazi is probably one of the most well-known "stars" from the Asian continent.
Imran Khan was a legendary cricket player(cricket is the 3rd most popular sport in the world), and he's a very famous politician and critic of America from the 4th most populous country in Asia -Pakistan.

My list of the 5 most well known stars from Asia would be:
1.Jackie Chan.
2.Bruce Lee.
3.Yao Ming
4.Imran Khan Niazi
5.Aishwarya Rai
I would've also included Bin Laden in the list but i'm not sure if he qualifies as a "star".

I would say Shahrukh Khan is probably at least as famous as Aishwarya Rai, at least as an actor. Imran Khan is more well known in countries which play cricket, like England, Australia.etc.

I don't think SRK is well known outside Asia and the Asian diaspora in the west, Aishwarya Rai is probably more popular than him because she's an attractive woman(at least on camera).
