"I am a diabetic."

"I am an atheist."

"I am a prostate cancer."

I try to remember to say "I am atheistic" rather than "I am an atheist" because it allows people to picture me as one dimensional.

I'l love to be a bit more one dimensional, I am however an overweight old fart, as well as being an atheistic atheist.

Believe me, there is such a thing as a Theistic atheist. We have one here. Don't ask me what they Are.

When the issue comes up - it rarely does - I state that I am an atheist.

It's accurate, and I refuse to scrounge for alternate phraseology so as not to upset those who might not be able to handle that reality as it is. Also, it moves the Overton window forward.

I think that give The Opposition room to consider me one dimensional, as well as allowing anybody to pigeon-hole me.

I've pigeon holed you as one of those people who can't stand to be thought of as one dimensional.

I am atheist is correct.

Atheist = without god/s. So ...I am atheist means, I am without god/s.

If one says...I am an atheist, one is saying - I am an without god/s.

So there!

Notice that all of these things are conditions, not some someone goes out and joins.
