Well, this "homer" considers that to be your opinion, and I absolutely disagree.
The Yacht Club and The Porter can be, and are a lot of fun - in MY opinion. Of course, neither place puts up with any attitude at all, so perhaps that's why you write off the area.

Some of those people that look like normal preppy people walking around in those areas might be like me. I use to have all the facial piercings and blue spiked hair etc etc. (I've been hanging around the area since about 1991 and on). I'm just older and lazier now and I'm out of that phase of my life. I'm covered with tattoos, but none that you can visibly see as I don't have any on the lower parts of my arms nor my neck. My point is is that the people you see walking around that look "preppy" in those area that you think might be from some outer suburb, might just be the people that have been there all along.

This is a good point.
Back in the day I went through all of the phases from rasta to punk to rasta again to hippy to rockabilly and dressed the part (I never had any piercings or tatoos though
)
Now-a-days I'm in my thirties and married with a mortgage, receding hairline and a white collar job. If I still dressed like that I would look ridiculous. That doesn't mean I don't have an Alt mindset or still love to hang out in Little 5. A lot of people are just like that.
