Hi, my husband is likely to get a job in Villa Rica. We have been looking at areas where we could live that are near (upto 30 min commute) that. I have been looking at Douglasville, Marietta, or Smyrna. Since I have school going kids; Schools are a major concern.
Which of these area are good in terms of Schools, crime, housing, commute to Villa Rica!

Appreciate any input!

I suggest you look at Villa Rica itself. It is a charming small town with a lot of new suburban growth.

Carroll County Schools have been known to be good. I don't have any direct connection, but have never heard anything negative about Carroll County. It will be less suburban, but growth is heading that way and Villa Rica would be the primary growth spot since it is closest to Atlanta.

I would also consider the nearby community of Carrollton, a nice college town close to Villa Rica.

I have to assume that there is some reason you did not choose Villa Rica as, otherwise, it seems obvious. Generally people choose to live in VR and commute to their job. If you can actually work in VR, then it seems kind of a no-brainer. I live in mirror lake which has it's own wonderful elementary school. Is there something we are missing?

I work in Villa Rica but I live in Carrollton. Villa Rica is a little too redneckish for me. Carrollton is a college town and much more open minded.

Yes...

I suggest that you look:

1. In the Mirror Lake area of Villa Rica (a master-planned community).

or

2. In the college town of Carrollton.

(Yes, still responding even though this thread is way old...may help someone else out.)

Villa Rica and Carollton are nice growing areas. Mirror lake is nice

You should also consider the Fairfield Plantation. It is a secuity/gated community with a lake, golf course, beach and tennis courts. The price range on homes range from the 100's to the 900's.

I just went to an open house yesterday, and saw this rare 4 sided brick home.

Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed

But because I have 2 children, I decided to look at some others..but it was nice..and literally next door to the majority of the amenities.

I'd suggest the nearby town of Temple.
