I just accepted a fantastic job offer in Lawrenceville. However, I live in Sandy Springs (about a mile from Perimeter Mall to be exact). Moving to Lawrenceville isn't really an option as not only would it put my wife at a disadvantage as far as her commute goes, but I really don't want to live that far from the city.

So my question is, what kind of commute, time wise, am I looking at driving from the Perimeter Mall area to Lawrenceville and what suggestions does anyone have as far as alternate routes go? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

hour to hour and half, lots of slowness on 285.

No real alt routes, you're really glued to the 285/85. Some days 285 will be brutal.

Well...I haven't done this commute, but I live in Gwinnett half way in between and roughly speaking from what I have seen.... the good news is most of the freeway miles you are driving are reverse commuting and you will see much lighter traffic than traffic moving the other direction... Not necessarily no traffic though.

I would think the freeway portion of the commute wouldn't be over 30 minutes, but you need to add the time spent on local roads.

Where exactly are you working in Lawrenceville? 316 corridor, downtown lawrenceville, near Sugarloaf, or closer to I-85? That might cause a 10-15 difference in the commute time.

Hopefully somewhat else that makes this commute can chime in eventually and spot out the common places backups will occur at... and how long it takes to the through those points.

The job is located down 316 about six miles.
