A Los Angeles bank to celebrities and Hollywood power brokers has established a regional office in Buckhead, seeing opportunity in the metro area’s kaleidoscope of stars.

City National Bank, known as a financial services provider for the music, theater and movie industries, becomes the latest "private bank" to open in Atlanta, a city home to a growing cadre of musicians, actors and professional athletes.

City National is the 26th-largest bank overall in the United States and also has offices in California, Nevada, New York and Nashville, Tenn.

I wouldn't think that catering to professional athletes would be great for business. They aren't exactly a group who is known for being great with their money. I think you could probably lump many of the areas musicians into the same boat.

I would think living the "Cribs" lifestyle would be more important to many.

Metro Atlanta has more than 100,000 households with more than $1 million in investable assets, including more than 15,000 households topping $5 million in investible assets, according to data provided by the bank from Phoenix Marketing International. Yes, the wealthy have their own banks. Time is priceless, privacy is just expensive.

There are already several private banks in Buckhead. I don't think they charge you any more than other banks, and they may even give you a break on most services. You just have to keep a certain amount on deposit.

I'm sure. This recession hasn't hurt the rich that much, and in many cases they've just gotten richer. It's the middle, working and lower classes that have taken the brunt of this recession.
