Tesla has opened it's Atlanta Service Center on Marietta Parkway: Marietta | Tesla Motors

After all the very positive reviews, high sales, and profits I have a hard time talking myself into holding off for the ~$30K Gen III in a few years instead of blowing my savings on a Model S. Either way, it is good to know Atlanta seems to have been selected along with Texas, Florida, and Raleigh as locations for the first service centers in the south east.

i have seen Tesla cars on the road here very frequently, so i guess it made sense for them.

Cool. I have been keeping an eye out for them, but I have not seen one in the wild yet. But I do have a friend in California that is getting delivery of one in a few weeks that I need to find a reason to go visit now.

Seems kind of an odd ball location. Why not more centrally located in Perimeter and/or Buckhead?

I've been seeing a ton of them in the Buckhead & Brookhaven areas, quite sharp!

That makes sense. When I used to live & work in Buckhead I saw nice cars a lot more often than I do living with the hipsters on the east side.

Agreed. I am not sure why they choose to be so far out either. I bet they will open up their first Atlanta store in the Buckhead area.

Probably cost reasons.

They are a business so of course everything is cost / benefit. But if they were looking just for cheaper land they can find cheaper than Marietta in a lot of places around town. Maybe they have customers in Chattanooga or somewhere that they are hoping to have easy access to with this placement.

Perhaps. Yeah, they could have even done Windy Hill in Smyrna and been just that much closer for an affordable price.

Probably used an existing building that worked well for their plans. Not all businesses just buy a plot of land and start from scratch.
