You're glossing over the fact that there is a movement in the state legislature to make "In God we trust" the default on license plates, with the option to pay $1 for a sticker to cover "In God we trust." So, while there would be an option if this passed, the option costs money, while the religious version does not.
That is an extraordinarily simple and obvious example of government favoring one religious belief over another.
If they were all free, or all cost the same amount of money, there would be no issue. If one is going to be free by default, it should be the secular one.
But even this is far, far different from the government establishing a state-mandated church or faith.
One of the reasons why living in the Bible-belt sucks. Georgia has many more issues to be worried about than appeasing the religious folks out there.
So they want 'In God We Trust' standard, while making it a fee to have the county label? Not sure how many times I'll get pulled over by police, but I will refuse to display that motto, and will NOT PAY for a county tag. I think I'll place my own motto over the default one, or simply put a black sticker over it.
Perhaps the next wildlife tags will be immune to this nonsense? :/
As a believer in God, a Christian and a veteran (for whatever that's worth), I would be one of the first to protest if this bill was passed. There is NO reason whatsoever to make it mandatory to place "In God We Trust" on a license plate and require a fee to have it removed.

It's not about religion. I respect people both with and without religion and this sticker ordeal seems a bit skewed and pointless. I'm glad to hear a Christian say this.
Obviously this giving to which you speak of is nothing like enough, especially when we have Iraq war veterans and police officers in this state who are losing and have lost their homes to foreclosure.
Why does it have to take a bunch of hippies to highlight the pain that this lousy economy has wrought on our fellow Georgians, eh? So the priority with these so-called "Christians" is bragging about how much they love God through a d--- car-tag!?!
These folks are no different than the Pharisees of the olden days, self-appointing themselves as the patron saints of purity. Christian conservatives in this state and the American south in general will always be the ultimate losers of history to me.
In the end, it's all about fear-mongering and power with them; never is it truly about serving their fellow man by living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The thing that really cracks me up about these people, they love to invoke Thomas Jefferson in their wet dream version of America, yet Jefferson was a Deist. Glen Beck, and the rest of the right crazies always invoke Jefferson's name when talking about America's principles, but these people are so crazy they literally just completely refuse to accept the 1000% absolute facts and truth that Jefferson was against the crap that they try to force upon the rest of the country.
