Here is the current US News & World Report ranking of GA High Schools

Search Georgia High Schools | US News

Based on other discussions, I am sure many will not agree. But for new or potential residents of the metro area this is at least one additional resource to consider

I like this list because Duluth high school is number 10, ranked even higher than Peachtree Ridge!

But a few things....like North Gwinnett and Chattahoochee high not even being ranked make me question its validity. Then I see Meadowcreek high on there, and I'm like wtf?

It's nice to see good old Marietta taking down some of these highfalutin North Fulton and Forsyth County schools. Looks like tradition still matters.

Same thing with East Hall and Johnson in Hall County. I also had a WTF moment when I saw those two schools on the list.

Not sure how much faith I'd put in that list. I looked, and couldn't find any explanation of how the rankings were compiled. I also found it odd that when I did a search for the high school my kids will attend, it came up as not being ranked at all, yet its scores in the four categories that show up in the rankings exceeded many schools on the ranked list (including some in the same county).

My thoughts exactly about Chattahoochee High - I am not familiar with North Gwinnett

Chattahoochee High was the THE school to attend in the early growth days of North Fulton. Northview, Johns Creek etc came after as the area grew.

Seems like the rankings are sorted in order of "college readiness". If you search for Decatur High, it's scores would put it in the 10-12 range, but it's not even included in the list . . . anywhere. So, certainly another piece of information wroth considering, but there are some puzzling omissions.

I don't think they're sorted that way, since Sequoyah HS has College Readiness of over 30, which would place it at about #18, yet it isn't even ranked. It beats a number of ranked schools in every category, but didn't make the ranked list.

U.S. News Ranks Nation's Best High Schools - US News and World Report

I think this explains it...these rankings still seem so very odd...

Based on the Smyrna Patch article where I got the link:

The report judged each school on its teacher to student ratio, students’ rate of college readiness, and students’ average proficiency in math and English. Campbell’s student to teacher ratio was smaller than the state average with 14 students for every one teacher.

The school was also judged on students’ college readiness, which U.S. News based on the percentage of 12th graders who were tested and passed Advanced Placement exams. Of Campbell’s 2,240 students, 34 percent took AP exams and half of them passed.
