Excuse me, but why should these people be any more 'brainwashed' than those that listen to liberal media outlets?

For someone who "supports" gay rights, it would be nice to hear him talk about it sometimes. I listen to the show 2-3 times a week, and 90%+ of his rants are about how Barack Obama is almost singularly ruining this country due to activist socialism. (A ludicrous claim, mind you.) And I don't see how someone who supports gay rights could support the Republican party in its current form--at least without some significant explaining-to-do.

But I do have to agree with others above that it's disappointing that WSB felt the need (greed?) to put on yet another predictable national right-wing talking point machine--Rush Limbaugh--over locally grown radio talent. I don't love Sean Hannity--though I appreciate his screener's willingness to put on well-spoken liberals from time to time. But Hannity at least has a claim to Atlanta being part of his rise to stardom. And Boortz and Clark Howard are of course legit ATL faves.

So giving Clark Howard the shaft for clueless blowhard Limbaugh? I don't care what the station's PR person says--it's a real shame.

(And I thought Adam Goldfein's night show at 8PM was a really refreshing change from the right-wing echo chamber. He leans conservative, but would actually foster debate on a variety of topics. But now his show, too, has had to move out of the way for Rush's bloated self.)

I've never heard Boortz discuss his own personal religious beliefs: if he does do so, it would be quite seldom. He refuses to discuss abortion on his show because he knows how strong people's opinions are on that issue and that a rational, non-emotional discussion related to it is very unlikely to occur. No one will change his/her opinion on that issue based upon what they hear from a radio talk show host. His libertarian opinion is "live and let live" up to the point that someone's else's actions negatively affect him or his family directly. Therefore, he is very critical of the "war on drugs," laws against prostitution, and laws preventing gay marriage or gay rights. Don't lump him in with Hannity, who is very clear on his religious/moral beliefs and discusses them openly. They are not interchangeable.

Keep in mind that Rush Limbaugh is the #1 show in talk radio with around 16 million listeners nationwide. I think there is far larger audience for listening to Rush discuss issues on the national scope instead of Clark Howard giving individual callers advice on how they should deal with their mortgage company, air conditioner repairman or how to get a cheap ticket to Miami. Nothing against Clark Howard, but I often find his show and Dave Ramsey's (which is similar) to be very depressing. Callers to these shows will say "I am making $18K a year and just bought a brand new Ford F250 and am having trouble making the payment and paying for the double wide, too. I just don't undrstand?"

I'm sorry, but I can find better ways to spend my time. I don't enjoy listening to others misery.

While you may not like Rush's opinions, he instead addresses issues that are on a far bigger sope than these consumer oriented shows that typically deal with individual situations of the callers.

With the economy in the shape that it's in right now and our country having a $16 Trillion Dollar deficit, I don't think that gay rights is in the top list of issues facing this country. Neal isn't gay, so I don't think that gay marriage is a burning issue for him. (it may be for you) Paying more in taxes (his income is well above $250K) is!

It may not be an issue for Neal Boortz or Rush Limbaugh, but it is if you (or someone in your family, or somebody you care about) is gay.

Absolutely right, CM. If you have ever read his books, you know that he is a spiritual person, but decidedly uncommitted to organized religion.

Oddly enough, I remember Neal Boortz ranting on about Islam from time to time. Some of those rants being quite invidious. Last i checked Islam is a religion. Innit?
