I think it can be done in 5 years. It shouldn't take 12 years to build a 12 mile extension. Just start one segment at a time and eventually finish at Winward Parkway. The line doesnt need to go any further north since people chose to move that far outside the city.

I agree. If they can lay several miles of track in downtown Atlanta in under two years surely they can put this in pretty quick. I'd run it on up to McGinnis Ferry.

Put in a station at Old Milton Parkway to tie into that new Avalon development.

It's time for this town to get cracking again.

They have also been paying for MARTA for just as long as everyone else in Fulton County and deserve access to it.

Which is a major reason that they want it. But I do find it interesting that a largely Caucasian, conservative-leaning demographic would WANT rail transit coming closer to them. Contrast that with what has historically happened in other counties.

Because MARTA isn't as bad once you actually ride it. Ignoring the obvious like the sometimes annoying delays or lack of coverage, MARTA is still one of the best heavy rail systems in this country and crime on MARTA isn't nearly as high as people imagine it to be. It's generally clean too unlike other systems despite being a somewhat old system. The stations are also clean.

To be fair, North Fulton 'ain't doing so bad as it is.

But yeah, this will help.

It's funny how the affluent areas of North Fulton love Marta but Cobb and Gwinnett doesn't. You would think it would be the other way around

Why would it be the other way around?

IMO you would think the people around Ga 400 would complain more about "crime from Marta and expanding Marta" since Cobb and Gwinnett has more minorities

Notice (again) as this is the second comment about Cobb/Gwinnett:

The topic is not about Cobb or Gwinnett or how much they have voted against MARTA in the past, or don't have it currently. The topic is about the North expansion. See post 1. As stated earlier, if this goes into another generic MARTA conversation, the thread will be closed.

Thank you.
