Anyone know if something is planned on being built in that space? I once saw a competition to design a building for the area there.

That lot was or still is owned by John Wieland the homebuilder who scrapped plans to build a high rise condominium on the lot when the recession hit.
I do not know of a contest for the design of that building but recall that the ASO was raising funds to build a new symphony hall in that area on 14th St. behind/below the 1180 Peachtree St. tower. Could you be thinking of the process the ASO board went through to select an architect for their new hall project?
The world-renowned architect Calatrava was hired to design the structure & he came up with an extrelemy modern & iconic proposal. I doubt that it will ever be built, at least in that form, & I most certainy hope that a new hall for the ASO is never wedged in sideways on that street as sort of an an afterthought to the 1180 tower. The ASO as a cultural institution deserves a better site!

That's actually not the lot across from the High.

1760 Peachtree is in south Buckhead in the Brookwood area. ChristChurch Presbyterian has announced plans to build there.

Interesting urban church

Oddly enough, when you click on the google map link the OP gave us, the page opens & there are 2 photos. One is on the left & is thumbnail sized. The larger pic is indeed of a location further down to the south on Peachtree across from the Woodruff Center, i.e. the John Wieland lot I mentioned.
How did that error happen?

It's not even that. The address for the lot in question is around 1301.

More than likely, the OP typed in that address, then manually located a different place, just like I'm doing HERE. I still have the 1760 address as the search, but have the building at Piedmont Park on the corner of 10th and Monroe in the window.

Well, now that we know how the original posting could have had 2 different pix in it from 2 different locations on Peachtree, back to the original question as pertains at least to the lot across the street from The Woodruff.
Does anyone have new news on the Wieland lot there?
In the large pic on the original posting you can see the rear view of Peachtree Circle houses behind the lot.

Yea that's what happened. My bad. It's prime real estate, just curious why its empty.

It's the only empty lot directly across from the High Museum, unsure of the address.

That was a year ago. The house that you can see at the back of the lot is owned by Weiland's son, who is going through a divorce, according to the rumor mill.
I really hope something happens with this lot soon.
