Hey you guys, just wondering does a commute to work from union city to stone mountain make any logical sense? And if so, what is the best route to take in order to get there quickly?

A commute between Union City and Stone Mountain would not be my first option, but many times people may not necessarily have a choice as they cannot always move closer to work for various reasons.

While a commute between Union City and Stone Mountain likely would not be the first option of many if they could help it, a commute between those two locations most certainly is not the worst commute that one can have in the roughly 30-county Atlanta region as there are commutes that are much worse.

The best route to take to get from Union City to Stone Mountain would be to, from the Union City area, take I-85 northbound to I-285 eastbound up to either GA Hwy 10 Memorial Drive or the US 78 Stone Mountain Freeway eastbound and go into the Stone Mountain area on one of those two major roads.

It is a fairly simple route and if the commute is being made to Stone Mountain in the morning, the only consistent real heavy traffic congestion will be on I-85 northbound between Union City and I-285.

After that, one really should not have too many problems on a consistent basis on the I-285 Southeast Perimeter between the I-85 South and GA 10/US 78 East interchanges, though there can be occasional rush hour delays between I-20 East and US 78 East.

The return trip is known to have slightly more delays during afternoon/evening rush hour because of heavy traffic congestion on I-85 southbound past the merge ramp from I-285 westbound heading away from the city.

Roughly about 30 minutes or so each way under normal traffic conditions with no delays.
