Are there any other areas close to the side of town as my job that you would recommend ? I figured that East Cobb may be the best return on our investment if we make sure to get within a great school district. We're definetely looking to be outside of Atlanta. the bigger the house and the land the better! Thanks again.

You are correct, if you're working in the 75/285 area, Duluth is NOT your best option. I know several people who have changed jobs (with cuts in pay) simply to avoid having to drive on I-285 during rush hour.

Someone such as a salesman, delivery person, or real estate agent has no choice. They are on the road constantly all day and eventually get somewhat "used" to it all - but most of the rest of us regular folks who drive to and from work ONLY on these roads at rush hour are not that used to it, and it adds greatly to your daily stress level. If you can avoid it, you save yourself that much more in the way of high blood pressure.

Default Lawrenceville, snellville

I am looking to move to Ga and was interested in the snellville or lawrenceville area, I'm not looking to buy a house just yet but I was checking out prices on line as far as renting a home with a basement and Lawrenceville seamed to be the cheapest and had more available than Snellville I was also interested in nice elementary schools and a middle school for my autistic child. I am a nurse and am looking to work in a hospital that wouldn't require too much of a commute to getting the kids to school, home and work. Any thoughts? Thanks

Default Marietta

As was previously mentioned, Marietta is probably going to be the better choice if you're concerned about your commute.

To keep it "perfectly real" , East Cobb is still a prodominately white area, and it's possible that you will stick out like a sore thumb - not to be discouraging, just blunt! But, on the flip side of that, I haven't had any adverse confrontations or circumstances as a resident. The schools are great, but the racial make-up at most of the schools reflects the make-up of the area.

Another area of Cobb County you might want to look at is the Vinings area; again, a bit pricey, but you may be able to find a great deal there.

Finally, check out this website for school info: www.gppf.org. It gives you a report card for all of the schools in Georgia...I refer to it every year!

I Think that Marietta is a good move for you! Even though I 'm looking to relocate.I've lived here all my life in Marietta.I have went off to school when I was 17 years old,so I have seen some other places, saying that I think that it's safe to say that Atlanta ,Ga along is a great place to live, rasie a family & even to start all over ;that goes for Marietta too.....
About Marietta School I went too Marietta Schools From K-9th grade,Then I went to a cobb county School. Well put it like this Marietta Schools are not Good & they are not Bad.Please keep in mind that I'm only 22 I should know!Plus all younger Family members eithier go to Marietta or Cobb County Schools. If any other Questions just ask!!!
