I love downtown. Home to beatiful buildings, shaded sidewalks, nice parks, and the center of the tourist/convention industry in atlanta.

With regards to downtown, I feel a sea change coming. And cq, you are right. Downtown has great bones.

The big hitters have been hammering away for a resurgent downtown for 50 years. I don't see how it can fail, unless city government fails to do its part and I don't think the business community will allow that to happen.

No, it sounds like some heavy hitters from the private sector are stepping in.

That all sounds nice, but DT - which I like very much - has a long way to go.

Well, a lot of the heaviest hitters for downtown have always been in the private sector, LD.

And contrary to what some may imagine, a high percentage of them have been from Buckhead, Midtown and even OTP. The effort to keep downtown vital has long been a regional one.

I wish they would relocate the pine shelter and put a big skyscraper in its place to close the midtown and downtown skyline gap. Move the homeless shelter to another part of the city. It is not a good look .

Yep--I see Downtown Atlanta as Atlanta's last or next frontier.

Never count out a well-located, great-bones neighborhood in Metro Atlanta.

From Kirkwood to Reynoldstown to Old Fourth Ward to West Midtown to Smyrna/Mableton to East Point/College Park, etc...

...there are so many neighborhoods/areas that I thought (during the 90s/early 2000s) would never "turnaround" or see the changes that have taken place in the last decade plus.

I'd rather have the skyscraper closer to a MARTA station, but the shelter needs to go.
