This is very specific. I just saw a home on Owens Avenue for sale, very reasonably priced. Is this a bad neighborhood or something? The address is 2749 Owens Ave. I always wonder why some houses are priced so reasonable. Maybe it needs a lot of work. Maybe something devastating happened in the house. I guess I was just trying to see if anyone was familiar enough with the area to remark. Thanks.

Somebody might need to correct me, but I do believe this is zoned for Osborne HS, not an awful school, but by Cobb standards, one of the least desirable districts in the county. Could be part of the problem. But even at that, that is a crazy price. Might need a good bit of work.

The next question is Ashborough Circle. Is this a low income development or some type of condominium complex? I am searching for inexpensive housing to stay in while I am becoming acclimated to the area. I just want to feel out my options.

The multi-family development that you are asking about is Ashborough Village Condominiums.

Ashborough Village Condominiums is not necessarily a low-income development as much as it is an aging condominium complex in which many lower-income residents live.

Here is the link to the website for Ashborough Village Condominiums:

I live nearby. It's not a bad area at all, but it got hit hard by the housing crisis and property values have not yet recovered. Lots of foreclosures around here, and many houses for rent. I'm appalled at what our house would sell for now; we paid twice as much for it back in '07.

In my housing search, I have completely noticed this, as it will show what the owner paid for the home in the past and what it is selling for now. It's a sad situation. I am hoping to move south eventually and need an inexpensive place to travel to and from to in the meantime.

This particular house was a short sale, and there is currently a contract that is under evaluation by the lender. it was purchased in 1994 for about $105,000, but it was refinanced in 2008 for $159,000 -- and then the bottom dropped out of the market. Foreclosure proceedings began last September. It's been on the market since July, 2013.
