Noting a spike in robberies and other “crimes of opportunity” as described by Maj. Van Hobbs, the Atlanta Police Department Zone 2 commander, the Buckhead Coalition Wednesday announced a reward to address such activity. Coalition President Sam Massell has set aside $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any of such Buckhead crimes which have taken place since Jan. 1..."

Hmm. I live in Buckhead and did not realize there had been a spike in crime. Thanks for posting.

This is a great story and example of neighbors looking out for each other...


"Quick action by several neighbors led to the arrest of a man accused of attempting to rape and kidnap a woman walking along Highland Drive in Buckhead.

Mary Kelly Clary said she heard a scream from her Highland Drive home.

“It wasn’t very smart, but you just kind of react, and I heard ‘Chase after that man. Someone stop him,’ and I just started running, I just started running after him,” Clary said..."

Looking out for each other, even in simple ways as calling 911 as soon as you witness a crime, is an excellent deterrent against future crimes.
