Yeah, which debunks the scare tactic that COVG would reach referendum this year. There will be more years of this. And after seeing how quickly Rynders pushed the bills through to Rules Committee (video on House website, also shows him rejecting Nguyen’s amendment saying that the vote would likely fail, yet he didn’t use that same logic for Sharon Springs), I do question the role of the Vinson Institute. They’re making bank off a service that legislators aren’t really putting any reigns onto. So long as a per head capita matches with a set amount of services, in GAC’s eyes, then that is enough evidence to allow a referendum. I also doubt strongly that the number of folk informed about COVG outbumbers the folk in what would be Greenhaven. And the Institute is also behind the impact study— I don’t mean that UGA is up to no good but we seem to not care for independent reviews of things these days. The last place I’d want to conduct a study would be the place issuing the studies enabling cities.

Atlanta set itself up for this when it stopped annexing adjacent areas decades ago as the metro grew.

Since the state severely inhibits its ability to do such, I can hardly blame Atlanta.

Came to say the exact same. Atlanta has wanted to annex a lot, but the state and other local entities have kept it from doing so.

I'm not seeing the benefit to annexation for the sake of annexation. It's hardly as if we're running out of room -- Atlanta has tons of underutilized space.

And the success of cities isn't measured in square miles. There are lots of fantastic, booming cities that have a larger population and less land area than we do.
