The Beltline loop was created with development as a significant component. If you really want to see the value of these projects, I would want to see another set of job and resident numbers adjusted for future growth, post Beltline.

I completely agree. The math I did is just one component. Unfortunately I don't have access to anything remotely accurate as far as those projections go.

Mayor Reed: MARTA to take over operation of Atlanta streetcar

Quote:
11Alive news has learned MARTA will take over operation of the City of Atlanta's Streetcar.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed told 11Alive's Shiba Russell that he hopes the streetcar will eventually reach all the way to the Beltline.

"The city is funding MARTA's expansion, the largest expansion in its history, to the tune of $2.6 billion dollars. That referendum was passed with 70% voter support," Mayor Reed said during a live interview in the 11Alive newscast. "So, as a part of that process the streetcar system is being absorbed into MARTA as a part of the $2.6 billion expansion. So we're excited about it."

Sounds like it's not just an operational contractor role, but the city is actually transferring/selling everything streetcar over to MARTA.

That is great news. Fantastic improvement.

Yeup. Reed says outright in the interview that MARTA is going to be absorbing the streetcar. It just makes sense since the expansion funding and projects are MARTA's.

First thing they should do is add the Streetcar line onto the MARTA rail map

With a thinner line than heavy rail, and smaller font for the stations, but, yes.

I agree. Not just that little symbol, either.

I would also like them to add the ART routes to the map as well.
