I thought the "people vs OJ" was great because it reminded people of the 1990s OJ drama and several characters were pretty spot on. I'm not sure another TV show about family and music will be interesting ... isn't there already a million different shows on evening primetime about the same thing?

As someone mentioned in this thread if it isn't about shooting, drama, gangs, nobody will care to watch. I could be wrong maybe millions of American TV viewers are interested in a family and music dreams living in Atlanta.

In every one of those cities ,any ilms and tv shows I've seen surround around the drug and gangs the majority of time.
Even still, like those cities ,Atlanta has had content about other things outside of that more and more as of late.
Movies like Wanderlust,Sisters, and not to mention all the reality shows that DO show the best parts of Atlanta are there.Just watch "The Real Housewives of Atlanta".
Um, most movies and shows about NYC have nothing to do with crime, and typically show NYC is a very positive light.

The most popular NYC shows are cop shows primarily and they deal exclusively with crime and IMO don't show NYC in either a positive or negative light most of the time.

I saw the trailer on TV and honestly didn't really "get" it. He's just waking up in a lot of different places lol. But stuff goes over my head sometimes.

I will note thought that I also do hope it shows more aspects of Atlanta than just hip hop stuff and drugs. I do think those are subjects/topics that have a unique Atlanta feel of sorts, but I also know that even in "bad" neighborhoods every black person I know in Atlanta has some bourgeoisie relatives who live in nice neighborhoods and there are some good political stories in Atlanta too in regards to the "good old boys" club type of connections and going ons and such.

Hoping the show is good and I'll watch it on Hulu if it shows up (don't have cable for Fx).

You really shouldn't get your ideas about places from what you see in movies or the 6 o'clock news. Reducing these neighborhoods to heathanistic hell holes filled with nothing but animals is part of why they struggle to improve.

I could counter everything in your above post with a example that proves you wrong, but I'm not going to waste my time writing since it is clear you have no interest in understanding these neighborhoods for what they truly are.

I don't get it from the news. I get it from crime maps that show where crime is clustered. That's pretty hard to dispute, regardless of how "unfair" you think it is that some people don't subject themselves to danger to appear politically correct.

Have you actually ever spent time in these neighborhoods? Don't include time you spent passing by it in a car either.

FYI, I lived in the English Avenue neighborhood for 7 years and was never the victim of a crime in my neighborhood.

However, I was the victim of mostly petty property crimes (car thefts and vandalism) when I was in other neighborhoods, including downtown and Midtown, which are actually very high in these types of crimes, primarily due to so many cars being around for criminals to target.
