MARTA is leading a plan for a nearly $50 million project to create a 9.4-mile bus rapid transit line connecting Midtown’s Arts Center station to Summerhill, the 72-acre redevelopment of Turner Field anchored by Georgia State University.

My first question is: Why?

If you are going to link Turner Field to MARTA, it wouldn't be to Arts Center.

Does anyone have access to a non-subscription article?

My interpretation of the proposal is to create a high quality transit line along the eastern edge of Downtown and Midtown, between Arts Center and Turner Field redevelopment; via Capital Ave, Piedmont Ave, Washington/Courtland/Juniper. The closest MARTA transit station connection would be Georgia State Station.

Okay, I have gotten a look at the full article through tech magic.

9.4-mile rus rapid transit line connecting Arts Center station to Summerhill. It would be the state's first BRT "loop". It would run along Juniper and Courtland Streets & Piedmont Ave.

May feature up to 6 vehicles, 30 stations, 16-minute one-way travel times, and 16 hour service. Would likely use dedicated lanes for a "significant portion" of the route.

Would connect up to 94,000 jobs, and average 8,500 daily riders, more than double MARTA's current busiest bus line.

Estimated to cost $48.6 Million, at $5 Million per miles. MARTA has applied for a TIGER grant to help fund it.

I thought TIGER grants were gone.

That article is a fraud. It uses a light rail picture while it says BRT. I want light rail or it’s a no from me.

Full-BRT is just as good and is part of a layered transit approach to an integrated system. If it's 1/2 assed, just don't do it.
