I don't think his knowledge of history is limited, he'd rather just pick and choose what benefits his racial outlook on the world. Besides, having read past posts from him, he probably thinks black people are inferior monkeys. No surprise there.

No, WHITE people have made several jokes in the past about black people looking like monkeys or other types of primates. There have been historical characterizations depicting African-Americans this way rooted in white supremacist attitudes. But of course, I know that some people are going to try and deny this ever occurred, so whatever.

Now excuse me while I go eat my watermelon and fried chicken, figure out how to get back at "The Man", listen to some loud hip-hop music, and walk around cursing and sagging my pants, since that's what all us black people do.

I think we're both right. I had forgot about Andy Young's comments, but I'm pretty sure it was also said by Campbell which is what prompted the hats/shirts, etc. for a time. I quizzed my coworkers and they also think it was a Campbell booboo as well as Youngs. Doesn't matter - it was still off color (no pun) as any other. Point made - unless someone gets downright ugly about it, laugh in their face and make something else of it.
