HI, I currently live in Florida and I'm hoping to relocate my family to Georgia in the Summer. Which county is best: Douglas, Henry, Walton or Gwinnett? I'm trying to narrow my search. All have nice new homes, but I'm unsure about the crime rate

Where is your job going to be? Traffic is a huge issue here and to have a decent quality of life you need a reasonable commute. If possible, you should plan on renting first to make sure you like the area you have choosen. However, I am a big advocate of moving kids in and out of schools as little as possible, so try hard to make your choice the right one -- make sure you rent in an area, if you end up liking it, that you can afford to buy in.

My suggestion: Pick the district that YOU will be happy working in (we have no real teacher union here and some of these districts are filled with power hungry individuals) and then decide where you'd like to live from that decision. I know nothing about Walton, but Douglas, Henry, and Gwinnett all are areas where you can have a decent quality of life somewhere in that county on a teacher's salary.

i would recommend gwinnett. it has great schools, nice homes. However traffic will be heavy. With Walton and Douglas county you're going to get more rural counties, and with Henry I dont know much about the south side of the city.
