nope a lot of restless spirits from the civil rights movement and the voting rights have been laid to rest.

What does this moment mean to you? | Opinion Talk | ajc.com (http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/opiniontalk/entries/2008/11/04/what_does_this.html - broken link)

Makes you want to vomit.

Its just one guy, one dude. Man I hope he doesn't get assassinated. Kinda wishing Obama was white now, just for his personal safety.

And all those post are coming from people that live in the Atl Metro area. It hasn't been 5 hours yet, and people already want Obama dead. I hope the secret service boys are ready. They really have to earn their paychecks this term. I was happy a democrat won, but now I'm sad that this old backwood hatred is resurfacing.

How can people post such garbage. I am really surprised with the comments on the AJC and naively thought GA's views about race was changing. It seems like the folks that are so fearful about Obama are satisfied with our current economic and world position and I'm sure if they had the chance to select Bush over Obama they would have voted for Bush, and we all know what a great job Bush has done for us.

Here is the new problem that people have been so reluctant to talk about (and many people should be worried/scared about this):

Now, people are going to think we are a post-racial society (just because Obama is the "president") when in reality we are not (and not even close!)!

Hey CoolF ... this poster is RIGHT ON. C'mon, it's election night and yes there has been a great deal of issues on the table.

Obama is NOT going to drastically change things tonight, overnight or tomorrow. He is a very smart man, along with his wife ... they are BOTH lawyers with a great deal of smarts. They are NOT going to "slam dunk" anything into law. It simply takes quite a few steps.

Even with a Democratic House/Senate ... I personally don't think we're going "socialist" ... doubt it seriously. Perhaps we won't "reward" large oil companies for their speculative trading (as a good start) ... but remember that government is prioritizing, voting, proposing...

And I agree ... I'm SHOCKED (not surprised) that the AJC would publish such garbage. On Election night 2008. Shame on AJC. That's why I wouldn't line my CAT BOX with their stuff. (Kitty did have good taste).

Have some faith ... stay positive. Ok? Remember we voted FDR in during the worst times in US history ... and we kept voting him in (4 times) ... when he was in a wheelchair! He started quite a few things he was criticized for (FDIC, the SEC to name two). And FDR started social security administration and everyone thought he was NUTS 'cause they started deducting from paychecks and ticked everyone off?

Hey Aries, thanks for support on the other thread! Do appreciate it.

I do agree with you [above] in some ways ... however I would think that we could have [next] a female President ... perhaps an Asian or Hispanic American leader? Obama opening doors?

In some ways (not sure how to phrase this) do you believe that many people of different races would think that the highest job in the USA is now available to everyone? (we'd like to believe, right?) I'm tired so I'm not thinking clearly? Just my thoughts.

Guess this goes to show you why Georgia has remained republican.

Obama will do a great job. Its unfortunate that so many people didn't educate themselves more on him.
The bashing gets really old. He's not a terrorist, not a muslim and he isn't going to ruin our country. How could things get any worse than they are now with Bush anyway?

Its time for Georgia to wake up and get into the 21st century! Its not about race and it never should have been. Be color blind!
